Places of Wild Things: Raffael Bader
Enari Gallery is pleased to announce Places of Wild Things, the second solo exhibition by German artist Raffael Bader, opening the new gallery season in our new gallery space. This solo exhibition explores remote landscapes that appear distant and untouched by human presence, yet are rich with life. These forms of wild existence persist in resistance to humanity’s impulse to order, control, and reshape the world. At the same time, they are the very origins from which all living beings, including ourselves, emerge.
The paintings begin with expansive landscapes and gradually move toward greater representation and figuration, allowing presences and inhabitants to take shape. Bader approaches both these environments and their dwellers as interconnected entities, exploring their shared origins and evolving relationships.
The semi-abstract visual language of the works preserves a necessary openness and ambiguity. It enables the artist to enter these worlds while inviting viewers to do the same, not as participants who possess or inhabit them, but as observers encountering them on their own terms. These distant territories are not entirely other. They may seem remote, unfamiliar, or beyond reach, yet they remain deeply connected to our own beginnings, reminding us of the bonds that link all life on this planet. The paintings offer an immersion into worlds that feel far away, yet ultimately belong to us as well.
