Ioanna Limniou’s Imagery Celebrate The Vital Connection Between Humans And The Broader Natural Environment

Yannis Kostarias, ART VERGE, 21 October 2024
In an interview with Art Verge, artist Ioanna Limniou discusses, among other topics, her latest series Bedtime Stories, currently exhibited at Enari Gallery in Amsterdam.

Limniou produces evocative oil paintings that explore the deep connection between humans and the natural world. Her works portray tranquil rural landscapes where people, animals, and nature coexist harmoniously, reflecting themes of community and the cycles of life. Using a distinctive style marked by layered, brick-like forms and a vibrant color palette, her paintings draw viewers into a space where simplicity and vitality intersect. The Bedtime Stories series is inspired by fleeting images perceived during moments of pre-sleep awareness on the island of Tinos, with a cool blue palette conveying the serenity of moonlit nights.
