LENA BRAZIN | DUAL CORE

"There is a great potential hidden in these fragile seemingly long quiet moments in life, where one can find the greatest gifts and treasures if only one is patient enough."

Enari gallery is pleased to present ‘Dual Core’, a solo exhibition showcasing the works of Lena Brazin (1985, Slovak).

‘Dual Core’ reflects on the inner alliances and imbalances between our heart and brain, between our emotional desires and logical reasoning. Filled with these thoughts, our minds may be pushed and pulled between being creative and generating rational thought. Brazin suggests that these contradictory ways of thinking may lead to a mental standstill. In these fragile moments, filled with potential, the artist reflects on her inner workings and consciousness, raising questions on how overthinking can halter one from making progress. These questions are reflected in Brazin’s body of work, exploring notions of self through the metaphors of working within the duality of mental states.

Brazin‘s work is heavily based on photography which she re-imagines in expressively narrated language and paints her inspiration from an archive of pictures that are always plucked from somewhere, whether her own life experience or a random visual noticed and screenshotted from the internet. Different layers and textures of paint represent mixed dimensions of one’s life where physical matter is merged with the ethereal and subconscious. Her interest sits in observing the universal complexity of everyday existence, including its transcendental aspects, and her process is one of instinct and collaboration where she simply listens, responds, and enables the artworks to dictate their destiny. Her work embodies an essential way of understanding the contemporary self, which is full of paradoxes.

Born in Kosice, Slovakia, Lena Brazin is a contemporary painter who currently lives and works in London, UK. She completed an alternative painting studio program at Turps Art School in London in 2019. Her exhibition history includes the Royal Academy, the Federation of British Artists / Mall Galleries, the Arusha Gallery, The Nunnery Gallery, The Turps Gallery, KYAN Athens, and the Flowers Gallery, among others.
