The artist appreciates cats' olfactory dependence on making sense of the world, understanding their surroundings, distinguishing between threats and comfort, how humans do this too to some extent... and she is interested in how this is thwarted/impacted by the existence of synthetic materials, in a practical way but also metaphorically. She has lately been making work that involves pets/animals more to extrapolate on our definitions of family, companionship, and even identity.Provenance
