In MIRAGE 1+2, an analogy to an illusionistic character of painting is described. A mirage or Fata Morgana is an optical illusion that occurs when light rays are refracted through layers of air with different temperatures. Our brain seeks to provide an answer to this visual stimulus, constructing a continuous narrative that enables us to make sense of the image. The underlying desire to give ourselves such explanations is deeply human.
The motif MIRAGE 1+2 can be installed as a diptych or, in the spirit of deception and illusion, the mirage can be separated to break the continuity.
