In Pepper, Kim continues her signature narrative of soft surrealism, turning an everyday object into a peculiar protagonist. Kim’s recurring motifs, such as anthropomorphic vegetables or creatures, hint at a hidden story. The pepper appears both inviting and watchful, perhaps emblematic of personal anxieties or societal ironies. Kim invites the viewer into a miniature world, where the strange becomes tenderly familiar and the banal hints at depth, always rendered with a dreamlike softness that belies its emotional complexity.
