Kim’s visual lexicon, recur throughout, at times amorphous or shifting into abstractions. The orange becomes a vessel of contradictory affect: simultaneously playful, unsettling, humorous, vulnerable. The color of citrus floats amid pale neutrals, drawing the eye before dissolving into unsettling ambiguity.
Floating Orange is an image filtered through memory and subconscious gaze, everyday things refracted and re‑imagined. The painting eschews narrative clarity in favor of sensation: the tug of familiarity and uncertainty, the resonance of light emotion carried beneath the surface.
