Leave Home, like many of Kim’s recent works, incorporates fluid imagery, such as water, sweat, tears, and other ambiguous, glistening substances, that evoke both physical and emotional states. These motifs convey vulnerability, unease, and flashes of dark humor, while also introducing a slippery, unstable atmosphere in which meaning remains fluid and perpetually unresolved.
Here, the fishbowl becomes a home for its unexpected residents, while the reflection on the glass surface offers a subtle glimpse into the environment surrounding it. As is often the case in Kim’s work, the narrative unfolds beyond the canvas itself, leaving space for imagination to fill in what lies just outside the frame.
