In the Portal, Hiva Alizadeh unravels the architecture of space, time and identity through a hypnotic cascade of synthetic hair and vibrant colour. Suspended mid-air like a mirage or apparition, this sculptural installation pulsates with paradoxical energy, simultaneously ephemeral and monumental, delicate and defiant. Alizadeh weaves together threads of displacement, memory and ornamentation, drawing from both Persian aesthetics and contemporary abstraction. The flowing, tangled forms suggest a threshold, a liminal zone where cultural references dissolve into pure visual rhythm. The work's physical structure suggests the outline of a doorway or arch, while the underlayer, collapses symmetry into entropy, inviting the viewer to lose orientation and step into the portal.
